Yard Management System (YMS) is a digital solution developed to streamline container yard operations within the port ecosystem. The platform enables operators to efficiently manage container storage, equipment assignments, truck movements, and yard capacity through a centralized system. As the UI/UX Designer, my role was to simplify complex operational workflows into intuitive digital experiences. By collaborating with stakeholders and understanding user needs, I designed interfaces that improve operational visibility, reduce manual processes, and help users make faster, more accurate decisions.

The Yard Management System (YMS) is an enterprise platform designed to optimize container yard operations by managing storage locations, equipment movements, truck coordination, and operational monitoring within a single digital ecosystem. As the UI/UX Designer, my objective was to simplify complex operational processes into intuitive workflows that enable operators to complete tasks more efficiently while maintaining full visibility across yard activities.


Designing Efficient Yard Operations Managing thousands of containers and coordinating multiple operational teams requires a system that is fast, reliable, and easy to use. The design focused on reducing cognitive load, improving information hierarchy, and providing real-time visibility so users can make operational decisions with confidence.

Understanding Operational Workflows

The design process began by understanding how yard operators, dispatchers, supervisors, and equipment operators perform their daily tasks. Through discussions with Business Analysts and operational stakeholders, I identified inefficiencies caused by fragmented workflows, manual coordination, and limited operational visibility.

These insights became the foundation for creating a more efficient and user-centered experience.

Simplifying Complex Operations

Yard operations involve multiple users, equipment, and container movements happening simultaneously. The interface was designed to present critical operational data clearly, allowing users to quickly monitor container locations, equipment availability, and truck activities without unnecessary complexity.

Building a Consistent Design System

To ensure consistency across the application, I designed reusable UI components, standardized layouts, and scalable design patterns. This approach improved usability while making future product development more efficient.
The platform provides dashboards and monitoring tools that help operators track yard capacity, equipment utilization, truck queues, and container movements in real time, enabling faster responses to operational changes.
